Boat Lift Checklist
- Frame Integrity. Shake hoist from side and front. Does it wobble excessively?
- Check for cracked or broken pieces.
- Check for loose nuts and bolts.
- Check for cracked welds.
- Check for missing pieces.
- Cables. Remember some parts of the cables may not be currently visible. Wind hoist
up or down to allow for complete inspection.
- Check for rusty cables. (Not necessary for Stainless Steel cables).
- Check for frayed cables. 1 or 2 protruding individual wires every 2-3” OK.
- Check for broken cables.
- Check Pulleys

- Winch.
- Check winch shaft for greasing. Many winches have automatic braking.

- Check chains and sprockets. Do they need lubrication?
- Check Electric drive (if applicable).
- Check winch cable. (See step 2 .2 above). Most likely cable to break.
- Boat supports, Guides, and other accessories.
- Check bunks or cradles. Is the wood core broken or rotten?
- Check guide-ons. Should anything be replaced?
- Check other accessories.
- Anything not covered above. It’s easier to replace on shore than in the water.

Dock Checklist
- Frames
- Structural. Are frames bent or welds cracked?
- Do hooks, clamps, hinges, or other attaching brackets need work?
- Legs
- Bent or Broken. Do any need replacing?
- Length. Do they need to be longer?
- Feet. Are they attached solidly?
- Decking
- Loose, broken, or missing deck material. Replace or repair.
- Attaching or mounting hardware. Replace or repair.
- Refinishing. Easier now or after install?
- Accessories
- Repair as needed.
- Insure proper attachment.
- New items. Install now?
- Planned expansions. Order early.
